Doesn't publish wp-help custom post types

When I create a help document and save it as a draft, I can then go back in “manage” the draft within the system. However, when I publish the draft, it creates a post from it, not a wp-help custom post type. So from that point on, it becomes a post and can only be seen by accessing the post editor. This is true whether I define it as the default help document or not.
