Doesn't create valid child theme
-
I’ve tried and failed several times to create a child theme. Here’s as much detail as I can provide.
This is the error message I get:
500 Server Error
A misconfiguration on the server caused a hiccup. Check the server logs, fix the problem, then try again.
URL: https://MYSITE/wp-admin/tools.php?page=chld_thm_cfg_menuThere are no errors reported in the server logs.
Looking at the installation from the server, I can see that CTC successfully creates a new child theme folder and installs a functions.php file in it, but no style.css file. In the WP admin, at the bottom of Appearance > Themes, There’s a heading “Broken Themes”, with the message: “The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.” Then it lists the child themes I tried to create, with the description for each “Stylesheet is missing.”
I’m using v1.4.7 of Child Theme Configurator with WordPress v3.9.2, and Divi theme v2.1.2 (from Elegant Themes). CTC does successfully create a child theme from TwentyFourteen, which is inactive. I’m not in a position to change my active theme for debugging right now.
I successfully used CTC with a Divi install in June of this year. The host is the same for both sites. I’ve also successfully used CTC in recent months to create child themes from other active themes.
I hope this helps track down the problem; it seems like others are also having trouble.
Thanks,
Karen
