Does your plugin uses the Legacy?REST?API?

WooCommerce 2.6 came out in 2016 and introduced a new REST API based on the WordPress JSON API. Because of this, the old REST API (now called “Legacy”) is outdated and has been labeled as deprecated in our documentation since then.

You need to specifically enable it from the admin area if you want to use it. You can find more info linked here.

Please make sure that the webhooks your store is using are updated to the latest Stripe API version, as outlined here.

Once you’ve done that, you should be good to go.

I already have a webhook configured which uses the 2016-07-06 version of the API. Is that ok or should I replace the webhook?

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce plugin support.

Our plugin does not use the Legacy REST API, but the newer REST API. You don’t need to install the Legacy REST API extension for our plugin to work.

However, if you have a webhook that uses the Legacy REST API, you will need to either replace it or install the extension before updating to WooCommerce 9.0. Otherwise, your webhook will stop working.

I created a new Webhook following this documentation : https://woo.com/document/stripe/#webhooks

And I deleted the “old” webhook which was API version 2016-07-06 so I suppose that it was Legacy REST API. The new webhook has now API version 2023-10-16.

I hope I did the right thing.

This guide is for Stripe webhooks, not WooCommerce. Stripe webhooks are used to communicate back to your site. :?)

Our Stripe for WooCommerce webhooks remain unaffected by this change. This is for merchants who are utilising the WooCommerce legacy API which is used to integrate with third-party apps, for instance, print-on-demand service, etc.
