I was testing the hit counts measured by different plugins. The difference in count I counted are very different.

    This is how I tested.

    1. I kept one page on my blog open in a browser tab (A). This is via a direct connection and static IP.
    2. I re-opened the same page via an web-proxy in some other tab (B).

Hit count in WP-Stat increased by 2. I refreshed (A). ‘Visits’ did NOT increase. I refreshed (B). ‘Visit’ did increase. Repeated the same quite a few number of times. Same results observed. No row got added to ‘Visitors’ tab.

Also, I browsed other pages from (A), i.e. the static IP. ‘Visit’ did NOT increase. Shouldn’t it count these hits at least once?

Apparently, the result of my test looks to be pretty random. May I know what logic does the plugin follow to record visits and visitors? Is it possible to see the hits recorded along with time-stamps?

Probably I understood. It excludes Admin hits, by default. But, in that case, it is counting first hits to Admin Panel/Dashboard page, which, I believe, should not be the case.

No heuristics, each hit/visitor is recorded when the page is loaded. Browser caching though can be an issue in this kind of test.

You wouldn’t see an new row for visitors of course since you’re ip address isn’t changing.

Though I have retained the setting of excluding Administrator from contributing to hit count, sometimes I can see hit count getting increased while some page loads from Admin panel.

Is it possible to track each visit (not visitor) along with the URL, IP and time-stamp for debugging purpose?

No, we don’t track that level of detail. You can look at your web server logs and should be able to see where the hit is coming from.

Please don’t mind, Greg. I’m just trying to figure out the reason of huge difference in both visits and visitors reported by Jetpack, Wassup and WP_Statics.

Below are the screenshots taken at the same point of time and these are the reports generated for a duration of 24 hours.

    Jetpack , Wassup, WP_Statistics

    Any thoughts?

I’m not familiar with Wassup, but Jetpack has better robot detection due to their centralized model.

You might want to check your robot’s list and reset it to the default.
