Does WP ping automatically when blog is updated?

  • Specifically for the current version of WP (3.0.1), I’d like to know if WP pings any search engine or service when a post is published, updated, etc. If so, and if I was to update a post 4 or 5 times after it is published, would this be considered spam?

    It should as long as you have update services listed at Settings/Writing in your admin panel.

    If so, and if I was to update a post 4 or 5 times after it is published, would this be considered spam?

    Possibly. It really depends on the individual terms of service for each update service.
