    I’m new to WordPress …

To what extent does WP limit my use of CSS? Say for example, I find a theme that fits my content mix and I want to add a custom CSS shadow on the right border of one of my elements – can I simply edit the CSS or am I locked in to the standard design?

    Thanks.

    Doug

You can modify any theme under the GPL license to your heart’s extent.
If you want those changes to save while still having the ability to update the theme, use a Custom CSS plugin or a Child Theme.

Jetpack is a plugin that’s useful for many things including the Custom CSS functionality.
