Does WP add an automatic 301 redirect?

  • When you change a slug in WordPress, will it will automatically generate a 301 redirect?
    It seems so?

    All external links are being redirected to the new url, and also directly from google’s listing.

    According to my google webmasters central account, it shows a redirect, but I never put one in there manually. Just wondering if I need to still do one manually or if it’s all good. I didn’t know wordpress did that or if I’m just confused.
