Does WordPress resize-shrink images automaticcaly now?

  • Suddenly I noticed that wordpress shrinks my images upon upload automatically. I don’t have any plugin that does that (Used to have wp Smush but it is disabled!)
    Is that a new feature? how do I turn it off?
