• Hi there!
I try to redirect my site from non-www to www and I tried a lot on editing the htaccess file but nothing worked! By following some htaccess guides after I enter kcolefas.com I will be redirected to https://www.kcolefas.com/www.
And it seems my site is already being redirected from www to non-www site when I entered https://www.kcolefas.com it will redirect to kcolefas.com. But this is just a fresh new site built by Linode stackscript, I did no changes after the site is built by Linode stackscript.
And it is weird that I tried to edit the wordpress address and site address in general setting, after I input https://www.kcolefas.com and clicked save changes, the log-in page will pop out and asks me to fill in my user name and passwd, but after I log-in the wordpress address and site address won’t change.
Hi guys please help me here, what should I do? I just want to do a simple 301 redirect to force www site.
I’ll be waiting online, thanks a lot guys.

It dpenends what you have for the two URL fields under settings->general and how your hosting is set up.

The host should point www and non-www to the same document root. If so, then the URL settings will determine whether WWW is redirected.

My virtual host configurations usually include:

    ServerName example.com
    ServerAlias www.example.com
    DocumentRoot /var/www/example.com

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply! As I’m completely new to coding and related things, I appreciate a step-by-step guide to follow! Is there any guide that you can advise?

    Thank you again!

It depends on your hosting. How are you hosting your site?
