  • While the intent behind creating such a site on a .press TLD could/might/maybe-never turn contentious, I might be more inclined to worry about infringing on a Microsoft trademark. LOL!

    Seriously though, only your legal counsel can advise you on how thin the ice might actually get in that situation. In the meantime, the best thing to do for clarification might simply be this : “When in doubt about your use of the WordPress or WordCamp name or logo, please contact the Foundation for clarification.”

    You would have a very difficult time acquiring “word.press”. Matt is pretty quick off the mark on domain names, most of the time. ??

    But yes, if you have any questions about infringement, contact the Foundation.

    I did contact the foundation, they haven’t gotten back to me and I did acquire a few solid <KEYWORD>word.press domains. The legal forum I consulted with said it’s probably best to mention in the footer that my business is not associated with the WordPress foundation & WordCamp
