Does this plugin need updating?

Myself and others have had problems sending attachments. The problem has been solved by replacing line 49 of functions.php with this:
$allowedExts = explode(‘, ‘, $allwd_ext);
Is this happening with everyone or is it an intermittent problem and, if so, does the plugin need updating?
