Does this forum cover only free themes?

  • I posted earlier but then read that the forum pertains to free themes. Does this mean that a WordPress site I am considering which costs $75 should not be discussed here? Sorry, but it’s quite confusing. If it’s a WordPress theme, where would it be discussed?

  • Here, we only support themes that were downloaded from the official WP.org theme repository. If you purchase a WP theme, you should seek support from whomever sold you the theme. After all, that’s part of what you paid for.

    OK thank you.

    When I enter the theme name I like (Axon) in the
    official WP.org theme repository,

    it returns a strange word so must not be official.

    If I did buy it, would questions regarding principles for building any website be allowed here, or is having an official theme a requirement? I certainly don’t want to pay for something I can’t get help with.

    Ah, now your other thread makes sense. The theme you’re looking at is only available for WP.com, which uses the same WordPress software but all of the required set up is handled for you. Part of the way that WP.com supports itself financially is selling premium themes like Axon for use on WP.com. I’m not aware if you can download the Axon theme and use it on your self-hosted WP installation, but you can ask at the official support forum here: https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/axon

    Thanks much. Sorry to sound stupid but this is the most confusing material I have encountered in my 70 years.

    I clicked on the link you kindly supplied, and there are a few posts – months old – but nowhere can I find a place to ask the question you suggested. Am I just not seeing it?

    I forgot I was logged in to WP.com, which is why the support forums there look different for me. My fault.

    I did see a preview of the Axon theme here: https://themes.designorbital.com//?theme=Axon, and you can find support from the developer at his personal site here: https://designorbital.com/community/

    Thank you for supplying those addresses. Unfortunately, all email sent to them bounces back; apparently they also are terrified by spammers so turn away honest business in the process. It’s a strange world where businesses want to make sales and lock their doors. Something may turn up in time. . .
