Does the job but needs a code and UI review
-
There are a number of RSS aggregation plugins out there and this is the best one of of the bunch, IMHO. It’s fairly light-weight and does not add a lot of extemporaneous data to the database (looking at you FeedWordPress). The posts import as expected and auto post as expected. I haven’t tested this with more than a handful of feeds so I can’t vouch for scaling but it does what it says it should. I had a problem with one valid feed not importing to posts but I’m not sure if that was something I did or not (see below).
That said, I’d love to see a major refactor of the code and a complete re-think on the UI in the backend. With so many options and possibilities, it’s easy to get lost in the screens and misinterpret what needs to be set. The verbiage is all over the place and certain things work in a way that makes me wonder what the developer was thinking (the feed category screen being a great example).
Would be happy to commit a few pull requests if this ended up somewhere I could contribute (hint hint).
