Does static pages affect “speed” of site

I want to create an info site and I want to use wordpress. I want to have a blog, but most of the site will be “static”. Might be 100 or more static pages. Will this slow down or dirupt readers in any way? Would I be better to go with a traditional site or will wp work just a s well for this.
