• Greetings –
I’m using SearchWP and Xpdf to allow me to create a database of searchable PDF files. We have over 4,000 files already within the standard WP file directory …/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Test-File.pdf. We are forced to use the standard WP file structure to allow SearchWP to find a custom metadata field that Xpdf creates when it processes each PDF.

Our concern is that when we use DD to reach those existing files to obtain the needed short codes for creating “Download” buttons we end up seeing the same file residing within BOTH the DD file directory (in the “All Downloads” section) as well as within the “Media/Library” file directory.

That’s fine as long as we don’t actually have duplicate files. Obviously jumping from 4,000 files to 8,000 files isn’t going to be our best solution.

Please reassure us that the DD listings are simply links to our already existing files and that duplicate files were not actually created on our site. Thanks.

    Hi,

If you are adding the files to Delightful Downloads using the existing file path, then no the downloads are not duplicated in the file structure. You will only add a new file to the wp-content/uploads/delightful-downloads directory when you use the upload button.

    Thanks,

    Ashley
