Does only remove it from the page, not code

It won’t be seen on the front end. But if you look at the page’s source code, the author name and the link is still there. So you are exposed and the search engine will index it. You just can’t see it. This is a cheap workaround but not a real solution. Could even lead to a Google punishment because now the author field is a ghost.
