• Hey!
So, I have been using the plugin Yoast Duplicate Post to create some template of posts and facilitate content creation.
What I have noticed with WP to Twitter is that after I publish this new post that is a clone of a template, the post that is being shared is always the one original one, and not the new one that was created.

    Does that make sense?

    Steps:
    1. Created a Template from a Review with Yoast Duplicate Post.
    2. Clone the Template in order to maintain the same structure and save time.
    3. Edit the clone as if it was a new post (well, it is).
    4. Publish the post.

But after I hit “Publish”, it shares the article from the original article I created the template with.

To solve this I need to create a Template from 0 and not duplicate the post.

Is a limitation more than a problem since it has a solution, but Just wanted to let you know.

    Thanks

When you say “shares the original article”, do you mean that it shares the URL, or the entire template?

If so, disable storing URLs in the basic settings. If it’s the whole template, that’s a separate issue.

    Hey Joe,

It shares the original post from which I created the first clone. Is weird, but let me explain one more time.

    I publish article A
I clone article A and create Template B
I clone template B to create the article C
When I publish article C, the plugin shares it on Twitter as if it was article A.

I have found that if I create a template from 0, and not from a post that is already published, the plugin works properly.

    Thanks

What is a ‘Template’? Is that something specific to the Yoast Duplicate Post?

I’m sure that this is caused primarily by Duplicate Post copying all the meta data from the published post, which includes things like a record of its shortened URL & template text; but it should still draw all other template tags from the current post. (And it won’t use the URL if you disable the stored URL option.) Unless there’s something super weird going on with these templates.

    Hey Joe,

When you say “disable the store URL option”, can you guide me?
I don’t see any option like that.

    Thanks once again ??

Go to WP to Twitter > Basic Settings. There’s a checkbox next to ‘Choose a URL shortener’, ‘Always request a new short URL for Tweets’. If this is unchecked, shortened URLs are stored in post meta and re-used. Otherwise, a new one is queried everytime a post is saved.

    Hey Joe,
It seems that checkbox is not on my installation :O

Hmm. That’s because you’re not shortening URLs, so they shouldn’t be getting stored. However, it could be that the bug here is that unshortened URLs are being stored. Switch to a different shortener, then you’ll see the option; set it, and switch back. Let me know if that changes things.

    Hey Joe!
I will do that and let you know if it worked ??
    Have a great day.

The combination of both plugins is working great on our installation.
