I have installed the plugin and at the beginning it has worked as intended. Then came an update and suddenly no more backups were done.
Support answers with delays. Inbetween more than a week (!) has passed and I have an email from already a third person – they have admitted that there is a bug somewhere and they are still working on trying to find it out. Probably the developer guys have more important things to do.

Ok, it’s free, but does anybody want to mess with something so unreliable when it comes to backups??

У меня такая же история. До обновления проблем не было. А сейчас не могу даже вручную сделать копию.
Писала в поддержку, мне ответили, что вышло обновление. Обновила, но проблема осталась

    Hey crosskirill,

I still have your ticket and was going to reach out to you today.
We shipped 3.2.0 with some issues which we were working towards fixing. Now the fixes are released I would ask that you update, to see if that resolves your issues. If not please do let me know.

I understand you gave this plugin a single star, which given the circumstances isn’t unreasonable, but BackUpWordPress has a very long history, the majority of which has been stable.

    Hey Irirna,

Your issue is seperate to the problem in 3.2.0, it would appear your server is killing the backup process.

I’ve sent you an email and I’m still awaiting your response.

Cheers guys, I do apologise for any frustrating experiences you may have had.

Thanks for answering here cuvelier (I haven’t got any newer messages from you since your posting here).

I am glad to be able to use freeware generously offered by developers and often enjoy doing beta testing, but I don’t want to be a beta tester (without even knowing it!) when it comes to backup and security issues!

After a week of back and forth emails with support I have just downgraded BackUpWordPress to 3.1.4 and it worked again. Making mistakes is human and ok, but I think that the communication around the issue was not right: you should have taken the upgrade offline immediately after discovering the issue and have communicated openly to all existing users, suggesting to downgrade until the issue has been solved. Am I not right here?

After the issue persisted for over a week I had to look around for another opportunities and have discovered that my web service provider is offering virtually the same thing (backupping database and server directories – free version of BUWP does nothing else as I understand) but I think I’d trust them more on reliability.
