This plugin has only just been released. I would appreciate it if you could contact me via email and provide me with your details so I can investigate the problem and resolve it for you. My personal email address is listed in the plugin settings. Developers spend a lot of time and energy and we provide you with plugins for free. This is time we don’t spend hanging out with our family and loved ones and making actual money. It’s a bit unfair giving something a 1 star review that is still in the early stages of development without reaching out to the developer first. So I would appreciate it if you could change or retract your review.

I haven’t heard anything from you about this issue you are experiencing. The issue you are experiencing should have been raised as a support request either to my email or on the support forum. I will give you a couple of days to reach out to me to resolve this issue, otherwise I am going to flag the review.
I can report that jstallings573 hasn’t made any attempt to contact me to resolve the issue despite there being a helper video showing a step by step guide on how to setup the plugin and my personal email address on the plugin page to provide technical assistance…free of charge, for a free plugin! There’s also a warning dialog noting that the plugin is brand new and points once again to my personal email address for any questions or assistance.
This is a free and new plugin and jstallings573 has rushed to make a 1 star review without making any effort to seek assistance. The review could be from commercial competition which was released at a similar time to my free plugin. These kinds of reviews are disrespectful to plugin developers like me who go to great efforts to support the WordPress community completely on their own time. Sure if the plugin flat out doesn’t work and no one is there to help you, give it 1 star.

@northernbeacheswebsites, There isn’t a strong argument to suggest that this user is anything but legitimate.
But the user hasn’t sought any assistance…why is my plugin being judged on what could be user error…why should I bother developing free plugins if this is the thanks I get?
The review system is here to receive feedback on your plugins*, rather than be used to boost your reputation.

I am not interested in boosting my reputation. I am interested in being judged fairly. That’s all I am asking for. Isn’t that what reviews are for, to give an accurate picture of a product to help others make a decision? This review doesn’t help a user make a decision. I should be able to dispute reviews that could be inaccurate or fraudulent and there are other review systems that provide these facilities.
No the reviews convey people’s experiences with a plugin or theme, not whether it is an accurate reflection of the plugin. A poor or good rating does not indicate the quality of the plugin and each review should be considered on a case-by-case basis. People are clever and they do read the whole story behind a negative review. As long as you are responding well, people will be able to judge your plugin in fairness.
Moderators deal with fraudulent reviews and we have much better tools than normal users to figure them out, so please leave it to us.- This reply was modified 8 years, 1 month ago by Andrew Nevins.
I respectfully disagree. People use reviews to make decisions on whether to download an app. If reviews are not for this purpose then why bother having a star rating?! If reviews are just meant to be all lovey dovey like you say and about user feelings then why not just have user comments without any star rating attached to it?
I go onto Rotten Tomatoes and I see a score for a movie, I like many others actually decide on whether to see a movie based alone on that rating. I generally trust that rating because I know reviewers who know what they are talking about make a fair assessment. So I trust this rating. What you are expecting is for people to not trust the rating because it’s not an actual judgement on the plugin itself.

In fairness I went to every possible effort to help the user and I was nice about it. It sounds like you aren’t going to do anything about it.
The appstore and movie ratings are not good analogies. The objective of the review system has always been to retrieve genuine feedback, which it does a good job at. If you are relying on the WordPress review system to generate sales leads then you are ignoring the man in the lookout yelling “ICEBERG!”
You are making a Titanic class business mistake if those reviews are part of your business plan.

What business plan are you referring to? I am giving away this plugin for free. With no strings attached. I am helping the community. This review and your support say get stuffed to developers, when WordPress is built by developers and people contributing code, themes and plugins. We take a lot of pride in our work with no reward so when someone comes along and unjustly critiques your work then how do you think I am going to react?
I don’t want to waste your time or mine any further. You are not going to help me so let’s leave it at that. I know you’re probably following guidelines and what not, but what I would say is that your guidelines make me not want to contribute any further.

No, it says someone had an issue with your plugin. It does not say they are a fraudulent person and it does not say your plugin is awful.
