    Hello,

i have setup the plugin as described and it worked fine. I use the plugin to show pictures and videos from Google Photos Albums. I also added my first album to a post and it shows all thumbnails for pictures and videos.

A click on a picture shows the picture but a click on a video just opens the popup, depending on the Lightbox, but does not start to play the video. The Popup for the videos is also way to small (maybe 300x200px).

I have tested every Lightbox selection and i have set the shortcode to show pictures and videos.

I have also tested to show another album with other videos (with lower resolution) in it. No chance. It just shows pictures and no videos.

Is there a know issue with playing videos from Google Photos Albums?

Thanks for any help and best regard, Pit

This is likely due to a missing video size. Note that Google doesn’t have a way to fetch videos in a lightbox – something that I reported as a feature request a year back. Since I had worked through all the pains of showing videos in Picasa I had found an alternative to get around this shortcoming. However Google recommends against using the alternative. Regardless, if you are unable to see a video, the best way is to explicitly specify an attribute video_size to the shortcode. By default it gets set to m37, but you might want to try m18 or m22 – probably those videos are going to be found.

If you are using Gutenberg you might not see a place to specify the video_size (I have not included it in the interface mainly because Google warned me against using an undocumented flag). In such a case if you switch to the Classic Editor and go to the Text Mode, you will see a shortcode generated, which can be suitably modified.

Thank you for your reply. My code is now:

    [gallery type='google' view='photos' album_id='AAM8qYpSaSuvR6R6a9U3UXZrr--------NvLiLtB7Spc4Sc0-_zZCxw0sCor6MGoOY6U8x6Bk0kr' crop_thumb='crop' columns='3' more='Mehr' main_size='1600' thumb_size='150' show_gallery='Bilder anzeigen' layout='square' video_size='m22']

(I have added some ——– to the Album URL, so this Link will not work)

I also tried video_site=’m18′ and ‘m37’. But still i cannot see videos.

    Is this the correct code?

    Thank you for your help.

Sorry – I need a URL to help you with this at this point.

    https://www.tsvtrittau-fussball.de/2019/08/25/a-jugend-holt-die-ersten-3-oberliga-punkte/

is the URL i have added an album recently. The first object is a video.

Thank you and best regards, Pit

You are using PrettyPhoto as your lightbox – that does not support videos from sources such as Flickr or Google Photos (see the list of supported lightboxes from Photonic → Getting Started)

In the Photonic Settings it says, that i use

Colorbox – ~10KB JS, ~5KB CSS: Released under the MIT license.

I’ve tested all Types of Lightboxes.

“Fancybox” gives an error, when clicking on a video thumbnail:

The requested content cannot be loaded.
    Please try again later.

Oh, i have now switched to Fancybox 3 and the first Video loads and shows up. All Pictures also show up. But only the first video shows up, no other videos. GFancybox 3 is still saved in my settings. If you have time to check it again, you should see, that online the first videos is loaded right now.

    Thank you for yout time!

Please use one of the other sizes that I have suggested. You are using the m37 size, and it looks like that video is not available in that resolution.

    Thread Starter nurdertsv

    (@nurdertsv)

Thank you, m18 and m22 are working. But the resolution is for all videos the same. Maybe Google have not rendered the HD videos. I have uploaded the videos 2 hours before. Maybe the full resolution works tomorrow.

Thank you very much for your great support and help!

“Regardless, if you are unable to see a video, the best way is to explicitly specify an attribute video_size to the shortcode.”

So this is the closest thing to a solution as possible? (Setting the shortcode for me to the various video sizes still doesn’t work).

    @simon333,
Short of Google addressing the issues and feature requests that I have linked above, this is the ONLY solution possible.

To date the workaround I have provided has worked for all users. If you are facing issues it is likely due to a different problem, and for me to help you out, please start a new thread in accordance with the forum rules (this is a resolved thread from another user) and provide me with a URL there.
