Does not pick up Spam or Trashed comments

Installed the plugin on a local environemnt, running a LAMP stack. once enable tried testing by visiting site using a seperate browser in private mode and leaving comments, in my logged in browser I marked the comments as spam. I then refreshed the WP Optimize admin page multiple time and it does not pick up the comments, I still get the message “No spam comments found, No trashed comments found”. I tried trashing the comments and same thing.
