Does not detect openIDs

The plugin installed fine, but when I tried to put https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id as the open Id, I got an error message saying “Error: Could not discover an OpenID identity server endpoint at the url: https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id” the same oprnID url logs me to other open ID accounts.
I am not able to see any options to post comments using any open IDs either.
