• I do *not* have comments enabled, so there’s no room for cookies via user login or such. However, there’s always search by category or merely selecting “newer” or “older” posts. Does WordPress use cookies in this process? It’d be useful to know, for the purpose of the site privacy policy I’m writing.

  • WordPress does set cookies and use them for logged in users and commenters. If neither of these events occur, WP still sets a cookie with at least the last visit date/time.

Thanks, David: exactly what I wanted to know. (Now, inasmuch as my host is already logging visits (sans cookies), and I don’t otherwise need a log, I’d like to turn them off. But at least, I have accurate info to place in my privacy statement. Perfect!
