Does media have to be existing for every language?

I’m setting up polylang for the first time, on a website that should sell photography and be available to visit the site in two languages with another plugin called Sell Media.
I wonder if every photo has to be doubled, by clicking on every photo’s “+”-symbol in media gallery or is there a different way to show offered photos in both languages?
At the moment, no photo is shown in either language…
