• I have the plugin installed on a multisite that uses custom user roles so that I can control menu items available for each role. When logged in as Super Admin, and when I tried to switch to another user, whether it’s a custom user role or WordPress standard role, I get the message that I’ve been switched to my own user account. For example Switched to mike (mike). Switch back to mike (mike).

    I’m not sure what’s going on…

It looks like on some subsites, it works fine even with the custom user roles. But on some subsites, it says it switched, but it didn’t switch.

Yep, the role of the user is irrelevant to User Switching.

You might find that something else on your site is conflicting. For example, do you have a plugin which customises the login screen?

I don’t think so. It’s odd that it works fine on some subsites but not others. All the subsites have the same plugins activated.

Checking in. Any guidance since it works fine on some subsites but not others, and they all have the same plugins activated?

I’m not sure there’s anything else I can be of help with I’m afraid. Unless you can narrow down the problem and reproduce it.
