So, I have been using this great plugin for the past years. Now I want to be using GA4 and as you know GA4 does not work the same way UA used to work.

Do we have to use Tag Manager to track links clicks and all other features?

    Thanks for contacting us!

We have a guide to setting up GA4 with MonsterInsights, it’s super quick. You can check out the link below.

Thank you for the reply. I have used Manually Enter Your UA Code for the past years, and recently I added Manually Enter Your GA4 Measurement ID. is that All, or do I need to do something else?

I care more about tracking link clicks, I can see them now on GA4 but only for Realtime not for the past days or specific days.

and one more questions, what is the difference between using manually and connecting my site to MonsterInsights??

    Thank you for the help.

    Hi @mohammedays

When tracking manually, you are missing out on the reports being generated, as well as a number of events that are generated server side that are only sent via the API rather than frontend. We always recommend authenticating via MonsterInsights when possible due to this.

There are also a number of events and custom definitions that are generated by MonsterInsights within the Google Analytics property that are not created until you are authenticated (this can result in a loss of tracking events).

You will need to make sure of a couple of things. Firstly, that you’ve entered not just the GA4 measurement ID but as well as the Measurement API Secret as well.
You should also make sure that your site URL matches exactly within the data stream, typically MonsterInsights takes care of this for you, as well as site time, location, etc.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you,
    Tim

    Hi @mohammedays,

We haven’t heard back from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like for us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!
