• Hi,

Since the plugin resizes the uploaded file, does it automatically delete the original hi-res file? OR does it just replace it so that hi-res don’t occupy the space unnecessarily?

For new uploads, the hi-res original is never created, because Imsanity resizes the image prior to WordPress doing anything with the image.

For existing uploads resized with the batch/bulk tool, Imsanity does not currently alter any hi-res originals that WordPress might have stored.

It appears that EWWW has the option to resize the hi-res originals that WP has stored after scaling… any chance you will bring that feature to Imsanity?

Lets make sure we are clear on terminology here: EWWW IO has the option to compress the hi-res originals…
Imsanity is not a compression plugin, it is a scaling/resizing plugin. I do have plans in the future to allow folks to (bulk) delete those hi-res originals. But compressing them would be defeating one of the main reasons WP keeps them in the first place: to allow better thumb regeneration from hi-res originals.

Bulk delete of hi-res originals is something we’d love in Imsanity. Following!

feel free to chime in or follow the issue on GitHub also: https://github.com/nosilver4u/imsanity/issues/13

Is there any progress in creating an option to delete the “original_image”? I don’t see any updates on GitHub either.

If there isn’t any progress on Github, then there isn’t anything new ?? But I do still plan to add such an option (along with a way to bulk remove them)!

It’s nice to have plans, but will it be a matter of days, weeks, months or years?

I work on this in my spare time, so I cannot give you a definitive time frame beyond saying it will happen this year.

Thanks for your efforts @nosilver4u !! And that is great news about the timing being hopefully this year. Super!
