I’m trying to figure out if the free version of your plugin will be sufficient for my needs. There are a lot of options in the free plugin so I’m trying to figure out what they all do — thanks for that, by the way, but I can’t always find what I need to know since I’m relatively new to wordpress.

If I want to check a theme for code integrity and to see if it has malicious code, will the free version do that? If yes, is there a setting a need to know about?

    Thanks so much

  • Hi

Thanks for considering Wordfence for your blog security.

We do scan themes and plugins for bad code. We then alert you and let you choose to fix it by replacing the code with whats in the wordpress repository, deleting the file, or ignoring the file. The choice is yours at that point. Its very helpful for keeping your site clean and hack free.

Hope this helps and feel free to reopen this and ask any further questions.

    Appreciate the fast reply.

I’m not sure — will I get an alert automatically? Do I need to enable any feature to receive an alert? And to fix, replace or delete the file is it just a matter of clicking a button or link?

    thanks again

You get an alert as long as you have your email set in the “where to email alerts” section on the options page. The replace or delete buttons are there under the san results, as well as a link to see the differences.
