Does exactly what it says
-
The YITH WooCommerce Badge Management plugin does it exactly what it says. The Free version has about 5 Pre-made badges and the ability to add text badges. I was looking to add a simple “SOLD” label on my products and this plugin allowed me to do that. There was not a preexisting badge however, I was able to create a text badge that works just fine. I imagine if you go for the premium version it might have a nicer badge, but like I said it did what it said and served me well.
I read that the plugin could be adware. I can see how it could be perceived that way, I thought the same thing. When you activate the plugin a menu is created labeled “YITH” and a submenu item labeled “BADGE MANAGEMENT” that has a few options to check off. There also 2 tabs, Settings & Premium Version. There is nothing to design a Badge in this area. It makes it look like you got tricked to buy the premium version.
I went over to the Woocommerece Product area on my site to see if I was missing something. Over to the right, where the settings are on the product edit page, there was a drop-down that said “product badge” but the only option was “none”. Now I am thinking I missed something. So I go over to the developer site and look for the documentation. I find it and discover there is a second area to look for in your WP admin menu. There is also a new menu item labeled “Badges” and this is where you design your badges. I designed my “SOLD” text badged and published it. I jumped back to my product edit page and now in the settings menu where the “Product Badge” and the “None” listed also had the “Sold” badge listed. I assigned it to the product and it all worked seamlessly.
It would be nice if all of these options had been in the same menu or some reference listed in the plugin stating there is a second place where you design the badges might really help with the low rating.
Anyway, give it a try, you might be surprised it actually works pretty well, especially for free! There is some manual work involved, for instance you can’t put things on timers or calendars. But as I said, and as it states, it is a free version and I was able to put a badge on my product with truly minimal effort. I just have to go back and remove the “Sold” badge if I restock. This is not an issue as I have limited items/products. I understand the premium version has so much more. For me, the free version works just fine.
Thank you YitThemes for a simple yet very useful plugin!
