    Hello,

i’m interested at envira, but does envira gallery plugin use fixed aspect ratios (scale x-y/y-x) for the thumbnails, or do that only crop the thumbs?

The problem at crop? Your images are awkwardly auto-cropped to make the images fit. For many photographers, this approach just doesn’t cut it. Badly cropped gallery is my personal and lot of other photographers problem. To solves this problem by using an image’s original aspect ratio — in other words, it scales an image down rather than cropping. At this moment i using jQuery to automatically align the images into stylish grids. The row height is fully dynamic, which means the image’s true aspect ratios are maintained. This can make a huge difference.

    Scaled thumbs: https://www.muehlstein-online.de/digitale_bilder/fotoserie_greifenwarte_burg_guttenberg/adler_geier_eulen.html

Scaled Thumbnails allows to display the thumbs in all their glory, but, more importantly, it makes for a more eye-catching image gallery.

thanks for reading, thanks for answer, best regards,

  • Hi Michael and thanks for reaching out! ??

Our lead developer is also a photographer and both of our devs have been working very hard to enhance your experience as an Envira user. Obviously not all the options can be added and implemented at 1 time but they are working on adding new enhancements and features with every new update.

We do crop the lightbox thumbnails yes. I can certainly bring this to our developers attention so it’s something they consider in the future but we believe that cropping provides the best solution currently to meet all of our various types of users (so it doesn’t load the full size images for every lightbox thumbnail).

But thanks again for your feedback! It really does mean a lot to us (and I promise I’m not just saying that)! ??

I’m going to forward this over to our devs as well!

    Thanks

    Sorry,

scaled thumbs are my number one to change my photo-site to wordpress. Dont be sad, but nextgen can do that.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the update.

I am very interested in right scaled thumbnails, too. Because cropping looks a little unprofessional in case of business usage.

I really like Your work at Envira! And I count on an feature update for this! ??

    Best!
