• Where do you setup the POP3 email address? I looked in the config file and there’s nothing there. I entered it in the Options > Writing section but is there somewhere else it needs to be?
When someone tries to request a lost login they get this instead on submit:
The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…

As far as I know, my host hasn’t disabled anything and the POP3 email works fine.

  • Maybe I’m misinterpreting the question…

Requesting a lost password has nothing to do with POP3. It sends an e-mail to the user’s registered address. This comes straight from your host’s server via SMTP, and this is what might not be working. Do you get notifications when a comment needs moderating? (Try turning on this option to test it).

The POP3 feature lets you make posts by e-mailing a secret POP3 account, which you need to set up somewhere yourself. It’s not an account for receiving mail.

thanks…it appears to be SMTP related as the comment moderation notifications don’t work either. Are there any settings, etc. that I need to configure for SMTP within WordPress?

There are no settings as WordPress just uses the host’s mail delivery mechanism. If it’s not working, you should speak to them.

Or try the option for php mail…

Apparently WP is not using the host’s mail delivery mechanism “correctly,” because the mail server is functioning in full right now but WP can’t send mail at all.

I need to edit SMTP in WP because the host is using smtp relay service from its ISP, not using his own domain smtp server because it’s restricted.

    HELP!|

    It’s working since I edited php.ini file.

    Hi giggy

Where is this file located..? and how did you fix it..?

    Thanks
