• I am developing a WordPress site in a sub-folder. After changing the Site URL to top level of public_html folder, my Elementor pages can no longer be edited. The Elementor panel is grayed-out and none of the sections in the right panel can be edited.

When I change the Site URL back to the index.php in the sub-folder, the Elementor pages can be edited with tools showing in the sidebar panel and I the edit sections in the right panel.

Does Elementor not work when WordPress is installed in a sub-folder, and the site URL is at the top level of public_html?

Doing some troubleshooting. When I click on the Preview link for an Elementor page that is uneditable I get a blank page with:

Sorry, you are not allowed to preview drafts.

The page is not a Draft, it is Published status

Update: If I navigate the site from the front end, this is the index.php at the top level of public_html, and use the Edit with Elementor link in the black admin bar at top of page, then the Elementor editor for the page loads correctly and the page is editable.

Not sure whay this is happening, but I can now edit pages from the front end.

I have the exact same problem and would also be interested in a solution that doesn’t involve moving the installation out of the subdirectory.
