    Hello

I did not find the answer to this question:
Does DLM automatically purge old logs in the database (if so: on what criteria?) or do I have to do it myself (how?)?

    Thank you.

  • Hello @nenesse8 ,

Old logs are not automatically purged because we need them for the reports section. So in order to keep the reports more complex, accurate, detailed and well informed the “deleting the logs” functionality has been removed.

They still can be deleted by yourself from the database, but it will affect the accuracy of the reports. Could you please give a scenario where you don’t want to keep the reports?

    Warmly,
    Razvan

    Hello

    Thank you for your reply.

My use case is quite simple: my database being limited in size, I can’t have tables that grow indefinitely.

I will therefore continue to regularly delete the oldest entries (table download_log and now dlm_reports_log too).

If the reports are calculated only for the indicated date range and the list of the best downloads (on admin home page) is calculated with the dml_downloads table, it should not alter the result too much (?).

    Hello,

No, it shouldn’t alter them too much, you’ll only loose the time range ( or report accuracy ) of the Reports for the time range you deleted the logs. So let’s say you delete logs for the previous month. You’d still have the chart display correct amount of downloads/day/month/year but the User Reports and Top Downloads ( from the Reports page ) will suffer ( won’t exist ) if you select as date range the previous month.

Hope I was clear enough, but if you did not understand please let me know and I’ll try to explain more detailed, I know some things are complicated.

    Warmly,
    Razvan
