Does Deleting Images in Library Also Delete from Page?

I have noticed when I delete an image from the media library, it does not delete from a page in which I have inserted it. Which is great because I could clean up the library, but I don’t want to loose any images from pages. Am I correct that when the image is inserted into the page from the library, it will stay there even if removed from media library?
