• I got an email today with subject: “Important: Amazon Product Advertising API”

I wondered if this would effect this plugin in any way? Here’s a little excerpt:

    Dear Associate,

We have an important update for you regarding the Amazon Product Advertising API.

Certificate Authorities (CAs) and companies such as Google and Microsoft are retiring support for SHA1 as a hashing algorithm used to sign SSL/TLS certificates (for more information, please read the CA/Browser Forum post). Because of this, the Amazon Product Advertising API will also be retiring use of SHA1 for digital signatures in SSL/TLS certificates and will be upgrading to SHA256 by October 09, 2015. This means that customers accessing the Product Advertising API via HTTPS will need to make sure they’re using the latest certificate bundles on their client machines.

Tbh, I actually don’t understand a word it says ??

    Hi,

The plugin will work fine after the change on the 9th October (it is already using the appropriate encryption (SHA256)).

I’ve tested it against the temporary API Amazon provided – just to be sure, and it worked fine. But let me know if you have any problems though!

Hi Paul, does this Plug in dynamically update price and stock information from Amazon at all? I have previously used Plug ins which successfully down load product information from Amazon, but do not update the price changes/stock updates made by the retailer on Amazon.

    Thanks

I’m not entirely sure but I think prices are updated every 24hours. For most products the prices are correct and change (not dynamically but after a little delay) as the retailer changes the price.

For some products the prices are wrong (it simply shows the MRP without any discounts etc.). For some they appear as “Too low to display”.

In most cases (60%) I find them to correct and updated. For about 25% cases I find them saying “Too low to display”. The remaining 15% are incorrect.

In that case what work arounds can be implemented to those 25% and 15%

    Cheers
