So I just started doing the SEO for my site, and I’ve found some issues either with AIOSEO or with my website.

1st issue, AIOSEO tells me “1 section of your text is longer than 300 words and is not separated by any subheadings. Add subheadings to improve readability.” However if you see my home page no section has more than 300 words. When I click the “eye” to show me where the text is, nothing gets highlighted. As a note I tried Yoast and it found the same issue, over 300 words but when asked to show “where” it didn’t show where.

2nd Issue. It says I have “no” transition words in ANY of my sentences. I did change some of the text around, and most of the writeups do have transition words. Almost seems it doesn’t understand “spanish”

3rd issue, Flesch reading ease The copy scores 0 in the test, which is considered very difficult to read. Try to make shorter sentences, using less difficult words to improve readability. That again leaves me to believe it is not “reading” spanish, hence it gave me a score of 0.

I do have my site set to “spanish mexico” in general settings. My site is using the Astra theme, up to date, which uses Spectra (also up to date). As the admin user I have set up to english.

Any ideas of what might be going on? thanks in advance for any help and/or suggestions

Ok, so I tried a little experiment, and it worked. Hopefully it is something that could be fix sometime in the near future.

My website language is set to spanish, which I am sortha fluent in. However I like to manage the site in english as that is how I learned, plus most of the good “how tos” are in english. The way I accomplish this is by going into “users” and setting the default language to my user as English.

Well today as a test I changed my language to Spanish, then opened up my home page again, and noticed that now it shows 24.8% of my sentences do have transition words, and I now have a copy score of 59.9. As I was assuming, AIOSEO wasn’t “reading” in spanish.

I still have the issue with it finding over 300 words, but not sure where.

    Hi @cancunmanny,

Thank you for sharing all the information and the follow-up.

I’m sorry, but the following checks in the?Readability?section currently work only with?English?language content:

    • Flesch reading ease
    • Passive voice
    • Transition words

Word Count: Not all content will have 300 words or more so this check can be safely ignored. It’s best to focus on the quality of your content rather than the number of words.

It appears that you’re using a page builder as well. The TruSEO page analysis feature works with?the WordPress Block and Classic editors and our supported page builders (Avada, Divi, Elementor, SeedProd, SiteOrigin, Thrive Architect, and WPBakery)

We do plan on including support for more page builders in the future.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello, and thank you for your response. However I think you might want to double check. Seems readability, passive voice, transition words, do work in spanish as well. I did play with it a bit, and after making changes I could get the numbers to “move”.

The glitch is that the “User” (the admin settings) have to be in spanish. My site is in spanish, but my user name is in english. That means all the edit menus show up in english for me, but the site itself is in spanish. With AIOSEO I have to change my user language to spanish in order for it to be able to read my site correctly. If you are close to the dev team you might want to bring up this issue up to them.

As far as the 300 word count, I was able to narrow it down. It is the form at the bottom that is creating the 300 plus words without headings. Like you mentioned there is no other action I can take except ignore that part.
