• How about documentation according to subject. A “Posting Page”; an “Images Page”; or a “Themes Page”. All the documentation dealing with a single subject.

Matter of fact, somebody sends me all the URLs to pages dealing with posting on WordPress, I’ll put together a page of links going straight to those pages.

  • yea word up. the search feature in the documentation = the_blowz(); and there isn’t a clear navigation for it, except when you ocassionally stumble across a huge page with too many detailed listings.

thats what happens when you don’t use a hierarchial taxonomy i guess! the relational link stuff is great in the context of blogs, but for the static howto documents that isn’t the right relational model imho.

Well put jwilliams, the documentation is a nightmare. It’s a rabbit warren of irrelevant links.

I find the codex to be extremely useful, actually. Okay, so the search function does indeed blow, but the massively interconnected style makes it way easier to find what I want than a hiearchical structure ever would.

Fortunately, it is a wiki, so you can do both. If you want to make a hierarchy, like a Table of Contents and such, then do it. It’s freely editable. ??
