    you can use the template include to achieve this:

    <?php
    echo do_shortcode("[metaslider id=1234]");
?>

    Replace 1234 with the slider ID.

    Where you place the code will depend on the theme, but usually it can be pasted into the header.php file as you’ve mentioned.
