Do WordPress permalinks support 301 redirects?
-
Hey all,
I’m bascially looking to answer the above question – here’s why – I made three posts at the end of 2008 on my blog: ‘the music of 2008 part 1’, ‘the music of 2008 part 2’, and ‘the music of 2008 part 3’.
Now I want to merge them into one single post, called ’20 unmissable albums from 2008′. I’ve done this simply by pasting parts 2 and 3 into part 1, and renaming it ’20 unmissable albums…’. (I’ve kept the post slug the same)
Then I set up two 301 redirects from cPanel, one going from ‘…part 2’, the other from ‘…part 3′, and both pointing towards the new post ’20 unmissable albums from 2008’.
For some reason the redirects aren’t working. I wonder if this is because directories like /2008/12/ don’t actually exist? Or could there be another reason?
Sorry for the long post, any input is as always greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
