Do users sync between subdomains?

Hello! I have a website that uses UM to allow our customers to login and view our product documentation. We need to add a second website or directory for a subproduct that will have it’s own documentation separate from the main site. If I choose to use a subdomain (product.website.com), will our current users be able to login to both sites? Or will they have to create new user accounts on the subdomain?
