• In all my WP blogs, (self hosted)I notice that all ‘internal’ links to posts, categories etc, are generated with https://etc
In my static websites they have /page.html
I was horrified when I did a ‘free seo check’ to find that I’d 73 external links when I imagined I’d only 2! It counted the cross-linking between pages etc as ‘external’.
Does the former constitute ‘external’ links, even though they’re linking back into the website, please?

  • Bad SEO check tool! Bad!

Search crawlers (and by extension, search engines) typically know when a link is aimed at the current site or (an external) off-site. They *need* to be able to know this to avoid crawling the same location over and over (and over).
