    Hi,

Today I have been trying to optimize the speed of my website, currently my score on Google is 70 and on Pingdom its 76 (this is for desktop) which isn’t too bad considering I’m using a free theme (Boutique) and free plugins but I want to improve my homepage so I know the speed will go down.

At the moment I cannot afford a CDN and I do have a limited budget so I’m wondering if there is any way to test a theme or plugin for speed before purchasing or making time consuming changes to my site.

My images have been compressed but not with GZip as yet.

I may also be looking at changing hosting provider as I’m not sure if they are giving me the best server speeds, as its shared hosting, I assume not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thanks atxmatt, I didn’t realise there was a free plan neatly hidden below the paid plans! Now registered, thank you.

Wow, Cloudflare activated quickly, my score on Pingdom is now 94 and on Google its now 95 but my mobile version is still poor despite using AMP.

I need to ‘Add Expires headers’ which I don’t have a clue about but that’s tomorrows job and would really be grateful if someone could recommend a decent image slider.

    Thanks
