• Do not use this plugin for migrating images from the Squarespace export file (XML) What happens is it copies everything to WordPress in multiple copies of the same images. Understandable because Squarespace has no media library and images are uploaded as per instance needed, (gallery, page, product, post etc.) however if you delete any of the excessive copies the single image left will not be viewable and will show only as a blank.

  • I’m finding something similar with migration from Typepad. Also, the plug-in works only when I update a post but if I hit the update button more than once (which I sometimes do in order to make a fix and then test to see if it worked), it uploads multiple instances of the same photo. Shouldn’t it know that it has already uploaded them since the origin URL and filename would be the same? I know the plug-in says it hasn’t been tested for my instance of WordPress and I reached out to the developer to find out when there would be new version.

@mayakent Just so you know, I am using the dev version of WordPress and I don’t know if that makes a difference or not but my migration team found out was all the images had to be deleted and then reimported via xml without using the plugin and it was fine (no copies) However when imported from Squarespace the came as attachments due to the fact that they are associated with the page they are copied from. At that point, no content such as alt, titles, captions, and descriptions came with them except with the attachment syntax. I had to manually enter all the image content and everything looked good until I came back in the next day and all the titles had defaulted back to the attachment string. For some reason, I am not able to change the titles without it defaulting back
