Do not use on a client Website

NOTE: Be wary of at least the most recent 5-star reviews. Don’t just look at the “5-stars,” also read the comments. And then look at the author’s topic history. Sadly, you’ll see that almost all of these are junk accounts, with no links to Websites they created using Live Composer. Kinda like paid-for-reviews on Amazon. You can easily see if someone built a Website with Live Composer by installing Firebug for Firefox or using Chrome’s built in Inspector – most LC classes begin with “dslc”.

Are you curious about Live Composer? This project is likely dead. At least from a support perspective, which for most people new to Website development, is a big deal. If you don’t know HTML, CSS, PHP and some JavaScript, you’re going to have a time, more than is reasonable for a “visual editor,” dealing with any shortcomings. Don’t believe me, just check GitHub – some bugs from a year ago are still unresolved.
Who am I to complain? I’ve been with LC since it’s first year, aiding in development with Slobodan Kustrimovic through bug testing and enhancements. The day he basically gave it away to a team of developers, is when the wheels came off. Slobodan offered one day support and two week updates for just the cost of the plugin, at that time about $30. Now you get the plugin free, but support is sketchy at best for $10 a pop! I’m at almost 6 weeks with no response to two request, even as a premium support member. Frustrated with the looooong response times, I posted an Open Issue on GitHub almost a week ago. There are open issues from other users from over a week ago. And if you don’t have a Fakebook account, good luck collaborating with the developers.
Early on I was a huge advocate for LC, even helping out a bit on the WordPress support page after it was transferred to the new team. I answered questions and left glowing reviews, mostly because I had a vested interest in its development. Not anymore, there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.
LC now has embedded advertising within what is essentially an incomplete UI. So many basic CSS elements are still missing, yet someone took a whole lot of time out of their schedule to code in a rotating ad banner sprinkled with some telemetry. No other VE on the market has this.
LC had a great chance to take on competitors. Instead, goofy marketing ideas got implemented by someone with no marketing skills, and all you hear from support is crickets. If you’re a dedicated and somewhat knowledgeable Website developer or designer, consider Beaver Builder. Or better yet, Elementor.
