    Hello,
I’ve been looking through the Forum to find an answer to my issue, but have been unsuccessful.

Here it is…when I click Settings>WP Mail Capture, the result is a page that requests only input for a Welcome Letter – i.e., Body of Email (use %NAME% to use the form’s “Name” field in their welcome email).

In testing the plugin, I used my own email address. I received the Welcome Letter I’d created within the website, but not a Confirmation Letter was not received prior to it. Since I did not confirm my subscription when I attempted to generate the CSV, the spreadsheet was empty which is what I’d have expected. (Plus…and this is an aside…the system kept prompting for a log on to begin the export of the email list. I used my User Name and Password for the site, but the system seemed to be having difficulty in accepting my input. I was able to generate the CSV only once.)

I would have thought the plugin would have automatically generated a confirmation email and then once it was confirmed by the subscriber, the Welcome Letter would have been sent. This is not happening. What do I need to do to get this to happen?

I look forward to hearing from you.
    Kim

    Hi Kim,

So just getting this straight, you filled in the details but didn’t get the Welcome Email?

I have gone to your site linked in your message, and received the email fine and subscribed to your site. I’m assuming your email went into spam. Check there?

    Hi Rhys,
Thank you for your email. I’d expected subscribers to receive 2 emails as follows:
#1: Sent to subscribers requesting confirmation that they actually submitted a request to “Subscribe”. (language generated by the system)
#2: Sent to subscribers upon receipt of the confirmation welcoming subscribers and setting expectations. (language generated by the webmaster i.e., created in Settings>WP Mail Capture)

I see now that the “confirmation” language is tucked into the initial email I crafted via the settings page so my testers didn’t see it and unfortunately (forgive my ineptness), I didn’t see it either.

I guess I’ll need to reword Settings>WP Mail Capture email to something like “Please Confirm Your Subscription” so that it directs recipients to click the confirmation link, and sets the expectation that once that’s done they will receive newsletters and other updates about the rescue.

Do you agree with that approach?

I look forward to hearing from you again soon!

    Sincerely,
    Kim

    Hi Kim,

    Yeah that sounds reasonable. ??

There is a feature in the premium version to send an “autoresponder” email which is sent when the email address is confirmed.

Also I’m probably more of a programmer than a writer, so my language could be up for improvement if need be ??

    Thanks

    Hi Rhys,
Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly and for the heads-up regarding the premium version. No worries about “writing” vs. “programming”. I think you’re being a bit hard on yourself. You do very well! ??

Also, I really appreciate your help and have created two pages. One that subscribers see when they first submit their request to sign-up (https://labrescue.wsbydesign.com/an-email-is-on-its-way/)and one that they see when they confirm their subscription by clicking on the link that’s sent to them (https://labrescue.wsbydesign.com/newsletter-subscription-confirmed/).

    Hopefully that will work!

    Sincerely,
    Kim

    Hi Kim,

That’s perfect. And thanks for being so polite and thorough in your requests ?? – is always easier to help with somebody being polite! ??

That looks perfect what you have set up. The only thing I recommend is on the first page (the request to sign up page) is I’d have a note saying “Please check your spam in case the email has gone into there” or something. Saves on emails back & forth.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Rhys,

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I will definitely update the message to include information about the individual’s spam folder.

As always, I appreciate your help!

    Sincerely,
    Kim

Hi Rhys, this may sound a little daft to you, but with the free version I cannot see where the emails are and how to change the text. Or for that matter how to set them to go out by the system ?.

    Hi Chris,

Please can you start a new topic rather than piggybacking on another topic. It will help me manage it better.

    Thanks.

    Rhys
