• My WordPress updated to the latest version of W3 Total Cache and now I can no longer access WP-Admin whatsoever.

    So the question is, what can I do? I can’t get into the Admin pages to remove the Plugin, nor update it. Please come up with a fix ASAP or explain which files need editing so I can FTP upload directly.

  • Are there any problems or errors that you can post? What version of php are you on?

    My sites got messed up too after the latest update. Sometimes when I clear the cache they work but after I refresh they don’t work again.

    PHP Version 5.6.26

    [26-Sep-2016 22:13:31 UTC] PHP Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required ‘/dir/public_html/article/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/Google/Service/Analytics.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/share/pear’) in /dir/public_html/article/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/w3-total-cache-api.php on line 143

    …and. Why is Google Analytics part of this anyway?

    Odd, request for this file:

    ‘/dir/public_html/article/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/Google/Service/Analytics.php’

    As it does not exist at all. There is no file there in FTP

    You probably have some other plugin that uses Google services. Its a bug in how W3TC decides which files it should load.

    Yes the w3total cache API is what plugins hook into for instance there was an issue with WPTouch because the API was updated therefore you need to find what plugin is using this. If you have a Google Analytics plugin or something else try disabling that to see if that’s the issue.

    Ok, so the problem is that it’s referring to the wrong folder in looking for that file. I have the Google Analytics Dashboard, but that file doesn’t exist within that directory as well.

    let me try that now.

    Seems to have worked. I can get back into WP Admin.

    What’s the next step you think? Disable and rollback to the last version? Or just leave as is?

    Since its working then keep using it \0 solid update and since its all working keep it up.

    @casbboy here are your options:

    * If you are not seeing any other errors, then stick with the current W3TC version. The new release contains a completely refactored code that improves performance, bug fixes, and new features. I am pretty sure Frederick will update the plugin very soon based on the new bugs mentioned in this forum.
    * If you prefer staying on the older version, I recommend using the community-driven edition instead as it incorporates many bug fixes based on the older 0.9.4 plugin version.

    It’s up to you ??

    Thanks Charles, I’ve been eyeing that GitHub version for quite a while. I will see how things look tonight.

    Whoa! So it wasn’t fixed. The admin panel came back, but I could not longer do a number of things, such as upload images to media library.

    I tried disabling the plugin to test, and it crashed the entire blog, front end and back end. I’ve renamed the folder, and site is back up. I’m seeing the Plugin Disabled. So guessing I just upload the GitHub version to the proper folder name w3-total-cache and re-enable?

    Cheers
