I’m attempting to not have a pop-up appear if the user entered the site from a specific site.

I used the Referrer visibility condition which worked temporarily, but it s now no longer working. My settings are below:

  • Hi @santosfel5,

    Thank you for contacting us.

I’m sorry to hear you are having this trouble. Was there any recent change or edit before it stopped working? Do you perhaps have any caching or optimizing plugin enabled? If so, could you please make sure you have purged all cache?

I checked the site sealevelnewburyport.com and inspecting the page source, did not see any Hustle code show. Based on your settings, I should still be able to see it as I was not being referred from the other site. May I also ask which path a user would normally take https://sealeveloysterbar.com/ in order to go to the site sealevelnewburyport.com? Is there a button or link on homepage that sends a visitor to the sealevelnewburyport site?

    Best,

We had to take it down from the site. I put the pop-ups on two staging sites to simulate the problem. There was not a recent edit since it stopped working.

If you go to Sea Level Salem at https://slsalemstage.wpengine.com/ a pop-up will appear. If you click on the right button for Sea Level Newburyport, it should take you to Sea Level Newburyport at https://sealevelstage.wpengine.com/. On Sea Level Newburyport site you’ll see a pop-up again.

The problem is we want the pop-up to not appear again when the user is going from Sea Level Salem to Sea Level Newburyport.

I’ve set the visibility to hidden on Sea Level Newburyport when the user is coming from Sea Level Salem, but it’s not working.

Here ara my pop-up visiblity settings on Sea Level Newburyport for reference.

    Hi @santosfel5,

Could you try removing the 2nd conditional group and create the Referrer rule in the first group instead.
But set it as “Not a specific referrer” like this:

Save the settings and let us know if that did the trick.

    Cheers,

    Hi @wpmudev-support1

I did what you asked, but it’s still not working. I even made the changes, cleared the site’s cache, and checked again. No luck.

    Hi there @santosfel5

I just tested the Referrer condition on my site, and it’s working as expected there. My popup does not show if I click through to my page from a specified other site.

However, you mentioned in your original post that this was working for you for awhile, but then stopped recently, correct?

If so, that may be due a recent update when we introduced the multiple triggers feature. Since that version, there is no trigger set by default, so I’m thinking that may be the issue here.

Can you please check under the Behavior settings for your popup to ensure the Time trigger is enabled and set to show Immediately?

    Cheers!

I checked both sites and the trigger is set to Show Immediately see below:

Also, I turned off all plugins on the site with the exception of Hustle, cleared the site’s cache, and the pop-up still appears when redirected to each respective site.

I resolved the issue by recreating the pop-up with the same exact settings. This must have just been some glitch where the referrer setting would no longer update.
