Do not display empty widgets?

  • I’m using the widget with shortcode to display posts from a specific category. I have the ‘Do not display empty widgets’ box selected, but the widget is showing up when there are no posts in the category.

    Am I misunderstanding what that checkbox is supposed to do? Is it displaying because of the shortcode?

  • Similar situation here but instead of a shortcode I use PHP and even if the PHP code returns nothing the widget still shows.

    Would be nice to know how exactly this is supposed to work.
