See subject, thanks! Just want to minimize the number of plugins I have running and was curious.

If not fully uninstall, is it possible to at least deactivate and maintain my custom post types?

I guess supplemental to this question is, if I can delete (or uninstall) CPT UI, would it be possible to edit previously created custom post types upon reinstall?

    Thanks!

Unless you make use of the “Get Code” tab in the Tools area, to copy/paste some generated code elsewhere to handle registration, you will need to leave CPTUI active, as it also handles the registration for you. All in all, it’s a pretty light plugin, so it’s not going to be a huge boon to a site.

Deactivation and uninstalling does not remove the content, meaning the posts in the post types, or the terms in the taxonomies, from the database. You could use a different plugin or your own registration code, using the same slugs, and regain access to all the content, if you were to decide to move away from CPTUI.

Since we only make use of 2 option rows, we admittedly don’t clean up those two upon uninstalling, so you could technically delete for 6 months and then re-install, and as long as those two options were left alone, CPTUI would pick up right where you left off.
