Do I need the pro version for the event list

I have just installed the free version and successfully made an event. What I don’t understand is where the shortcode is to present a list of events.
When reading the support documentation it almost looks like I have to have the pro version to just create a list of events (I really don’t want a calendar)

Hi @dillydally,
Shortcodes are only available in the Events Calendar Pro. However, the free version includes an Events List widget which you can add to any of your widget areas.
